Development & Design

Our design approach is based on our commitment to deliver cost-effective solutions that add value by combining understanding with clarity.

Definition & Planning

Here's where we get down to business!

The Definition & Planning phase defines the project in terms of objectives, scope, budget and timeframe. During this phase, information is collected through interviews and research. This information is then analyzed.

The Definition & Planning forms the specification for the work to follow.

We'll conduct strategy sessions with you, and will decide upon the essential elements needed for your Web site. We'll make recommendations about "look and feel" pertinent to your business and customers, logo, graphic images, distribution and flow of information through the site, what it will take to make the Web site easy for your customers to use, and will identify and recommend strategies, necessary components and resources required to implement the Web site and your Web promotion campaign.

We'll also gather from you any necessary information about your company and services and products, for conversion into ad copy — because, while we are experts at what we do, you are the expert at your business and you know your customers.

Web site Architecture & Design

This two-tiered phase starts with creating an architecture to explain the information flow and supporting technology. Then, the second tier is to provide the visual framework. It defines the visual navigation design based on user interction for the architecture selected in the first tier.
During this phase, different approaches are compared to establish the best concept, against the specifications in the Definition & Planning.

Deliverables at this stage may include sketches, renderings, flowcharts, storyboards or prototypes for the first tier; and visual design templates, customized programming interfaces or graphic designs for the second tier.

This is where, with the information and ideas gathered from our strategy sessions, we begin to design a proposed layout. This will include "look and feel" and the issue of what needs to be on the Web site (and what doesn't).

A good deal of our time goes into determining how the sections of the site should be linked together. If you've ever visited a Web site where you couldn't find what you wanted — or couldn't figure out how to get it — you know what we mean.

The layout will be uploaded to a password-protected area of our Web site, and we'll review the project with you for your input and approval. In this way, we can discuss the Web site and make changes, even at a distance — the World Wide Web and the telephone make this possible.

Once approved, we go into full production of your Web site. Ad copy is written from your materials and input, and images are created to enhance the customer's perception of your company and its services or products.

We can also arrange for registration of a domain name ("yourdomain.com") and hosting for your Web site.

Again, your input and approval will be sought. Our production team will go over the site minutely, testing each of its parts for design, information flow and functionality of links and interactive sections. We also test the site in a variety of browsers and monitor sizes, making corrections as necessary until we arrive at your completed Web site.

Implementation

The Implementation phase is where all the design elements are integrated into a contained solution and published for viewing. Testing is also an important part of this phase, to ensure reliability and ease of use.

Deliverables at this final stage are the completed product and pre-determined support follow-up.

Once testing is completed and you have approved the final Web site, we will place it on its own Webspace on the Internet. Your Web site is now "live" to the World!

At this point, you need traffic to your Web site. We now begin promoting it by submitting it to the major search engines (such as AltaVista, HotBot, Fast and Google). These search engines will visit your site, and will schedule it for inclusion in their search results.

We'll also carefully craft submissions to the major directories (such as Yahoo!, LookSmart, and the Netscape Open Directory Project). Although these directories are major sources of traffic to Web sites, they do not guarantee they'll list anyone — however, we must say that we have been very successful in getting our clients' Web sites listed.

And that's it — your Web site is live, and you can now start enjoying traffic from the World Wide Web.

Tracking, Evaluation & Site Management

Effective Web sites evolve in response to reader interests and preferences. We can help you track and evaluate your site's audience, and assist you in managing the content and functionality of your site.

When your Web site has been live for a period of time, we'll consult with you to get your reactions to the site, review your hit logs with you, and go over any indicated changes. If warranted, we'll make recommendations for further enhancements to ensure that your Web site remains up-to-date and has any information or functionality crucial to managing, maintaining and increasing Web site traffic and sales.

We can also arrange for updates, periodic submissions to search engines, check its performance and functionality and manage your Web site over the long term, and make recommendations based on your company's needs.
